Hind Di Chadar
Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji (1621–1675), revered as Hind Di Chadar (Shield of India), was a saint-soldier who fearlessly stood for the universal right to religious freedom. Born in Amritsar and trained in both spiritual and martial disciplines, he lived a life of humility, meditation, and service, spreading the teachings of Guru Nanak across India.
Anointed the Ninth Sikh Guru after a divine revelation to Makhan Shah Labana, his hymns in the Guru Granth Sahib emphasize detachment, courage, and devotion. In 1675, he sacrificed his life to protect Kashmiri Pandits from forced conversion, making the ultimate stand for human rights and freedom of conscience.
His martyrdom in Delhi remains a timeless testament to bravery, compassion, and the defence of truth – a legacy that continues to inspire humanity to this day.
